Hard No Terms of Service
Last updated: August 6, 2026
Welcome to Hard No
Hard No ("the App") is provided by Vaipo UG (haftungsbeschränkt) ("Vaipo", "we", "us"). By downloading, installing, or using Hard No, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THESE TERMS, PLEASE DO NOT USE THE APP.
These terms are specific to Hard No. Our general Terms of Service and Privacy Policy also apply to your use of Vaipo's services generally, but where they conflict with this document for anything Hard No-specific, this document controls.
Blocking Sessions Cannot Be Cancelled
This is the single most important thing to understand before you use the App, so it comes first.
When you start a blocking session, you choose which apps to block and for how long. Once that session starts, Hard No provides no way to cancel, pause, shorten, or unlock it early. This is intentional and central to how the product works. There is no stop button, no emergency unlock, no temporary break, and no hidden override. Quitting the App, force-quitting it, or restarting your device will not end a session.
By starting a session, you confirm that you understand this and that you accept the consequences of the apps you selected being unavailable for the full duration you chose.
The App shows you the exact end time before you confirm. Please read it.
Choose What You Block With Care
Do not block apps you may need at short notice. Consider carefully before including apps used for banking or payments, navigation and travel, work or on-call communication, medical or health management, home access and security, or anything else you might need in an urgent or unexpected situation.
Because a session cannot be ended from inside the App, you are solely responsible for your selections and for the length of the sessions you start. We are not liable for any consequence of you being unable to access an app you chose to block — including missed messages, missed appointments, financial loss, or any other outcome.
Apple's Screen Time system does not block emergency calls, and Hard No does not attempt to interfere with your ability to make them.
Not a Health, Medical, or Therapeutic Tool
Hard No is a simple utility for making chosen apps temporarily unavailable. It is not a medical device, a treatment, a therapy, or a clinical intervention, and it makes no claim to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition — including behavioural addiction, compulsive use, anxiety, attention disorders, or any other health matter.
If your relationship with your phone is causing you distress or harm, please speak to a qualified healthcare professional. An app with a timer is not a substitute for that.
Screen Time Permission
Hard No blocks apps using Apple's Screen Time frameworks. You grant the App Family Controls authorization on first use; iOS performs the actual blocking.
That authorization is an operating-system control that belongs to you. You may withdraw it at any time through your device's settings, and doing so will end the App's ability to block apps. We do not document how to do this and we do not attempt to prevent, obstruct, detect-and-punish, or otherwise circumvent your ability to do it. We also cannot guarantee that a session will survive changes you make to your device, its settings, or its operating system.
Deleting the App removes its blocks, in the same way that deleting any Screen Time-based app does. We make no claim that the App is impossible to bypass — only that it does not help you do so.
No Account, No Backend, No Data Collection
Hard No works entirely offline: there is no account to create, no sign-in, and no backend server. The App does not use networking, analytics, or location tracking. Your app selections, sessions, and settings are stored locally on your device only.
Apple hands the App opaque tokens rather than app names for the apps you select, so we could not identify what you blocked even if we received your data — which we do not. See our Privacy Policy for more detail.
Free Tier and Hard No Pro
Hard No's core blocking is free to use, with a limit of one app per session. Hard No Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription that unlocks:
- Blocking multiple apps in a single session
- Additional humour packs
Subscriptions
All purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit and are subject to Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
Hard No Pro is offered as a monthly or annual auto-renewing subscription. It renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your Apple ID is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the period ending. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID account settings. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
We do not process payments ourselves, do not see your payment details, and do not handle refunds directly — refund requests must be made to Apple through your App Store purchase history. Your entitlement is tied to your Apple ID; if you reinstall the App or use it on another device signed into the same Apple ID, you can restore it from the subscription screen in Settings at no additional cost.
A subscription never affects a session that is already running. Subscribing, cancelling, letting a subscription lapse, or requesting a refund will not unblock apps early.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to misuse the App — for example, by attempting to reverse-engineer, decompile, tamper with, or interfere with its normal operation, or by using it in a way that violates applicable law.
Hard No is intended for you to use on your own device, to limit your own access to your own apps. It is not a parental-control or employee-monitoring product, provides no remote management, and must not be used to restrict another person's device or to coerce, control, or surveil anyone.
License to Use the App
Subject to these terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use Hard No on Apple devices that you own or control, for your personal, non-commercial use, in accordance with Apple's App Store Terms of Service. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, distribute, sell, or lease the App or any part of it, except as permitted by applicable law.
Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, code, and written content, is owned by Vaipo and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Using the App does not grant you any ownership rights in it.
Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free, that blocking will succeed in every circumstance, or that a session will always run exactly as scheduled — the App depends on Apple's Screen Time system and on your device continuing to function as expected.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Vaipo and its suppliers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the App. This includes, without limitation, any loss arising from an app being blocked when you wanted it, or from an app not being blocked when you expected it to be. Your use of the App is at your own risk.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
Changes to the App or These Terms
We may update the App or these Terms from time to time to reflect new features or legal requirements. If we make material changes to these Terms, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continuing to use the App after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
Termination
You may stop using Hard No at any time by deleting the App from your device, which also removes its blocks and all locally stored data. We may discontinue or modify the App at our discretion, though we will make reasonable efforts to give notice of any change that materially affects your use of it.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Germany, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
